Press Room Press Releases CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE FOR NURSING & HEALTH CARE SELECTED BY NURSEWEEK MAGAZINE TO ADMINISTER PROCEEDS FROM NURSING EXCELLENCE AWARDS BANQUET San Rafael, Calif., April 24, 2003 The California Institute for Nursing & Health Care (CINHC) has been chosen by NurseWeek magazine to administer proceeds from the 2003 Nursing Excellence Awards Banquet, April 25, which will go to The California Fund for Nursing, established by NurseWeek to provide financial support to nursing students, scholarships, mentoring, faculty development and other workforce initiatives. " CINHC was the logical choice to administer proceeds from this year's event. Because of CINHC's broad base of support among California nursing and health care organizations, it is perfectly positioned to assure that our vision for The California Fund for Nursing is fulfilled. Both CINHC and the California Fund exist to develop strategic solutions to the nursing shortage," said Carol Bradley, MSN, RN, regional vice president and editor, NurseWeek, California Edition. Winners of NurseWeek's annual Nursing Excellence Awards will be announced April 25, 2003 during an event to be held at the Hilton Universal in Universal City, CA. "I applaud NurseWeek for recognizing the opportunity to use this important event as a way to fund critical efforts to solve the California nursing shortage, estimated by experts to reach 30,000 nurses by 2006," said Deloras Jones, RN, MS, executive director and founder of CINHC. "CINHC is mobilizing a broad base of nursing and health care leaders to develop a statewide master plan as a blueprint for addressing the shortage. At the same time, we are partnering with several organizations to develop and implement programs that will improve nursing diversity, increase educational capacity, and prepare nurses for enhanced leader roles." The California Institute for Nursing & Health Care (CINHC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing statewide solutions to a critical nursing shortage and related nursing issues that affect the health of all Californians. Through strategic workforce planning, education, research, nurse practice development, and sponsorship of initiatives to solve the current nurse supply crisis, CINHC seeks to strengthen the ability of nurses to deliver quality health care in diverse settings. |
